About Us

Co-founders Helmut and Konni Pallmert moved to the Gold Coast in 2000 and soon after, Konni lost her job. She kept herself busy making candles, her favourite pastime, trying different products and developing new techniques. She started having ‘candle making parties’ to entertain her two young daughters and friends. The response was overwhelming and gave her motivation.

Not long after, Helmut became ill and had to give up his job. He started building customised equipment for Konni and in 2002 Crazy Candles was born, turning a hobby into a business! They worked hard and their daughters helped as they grew older.

They expanded their service area throughout greater South-East Queensland and their mobile Workshops became popular with schools, vacation care centres, churches, social groups, markets and fetes, just to name a few. Birthday parties, trade shows, fund raisers and even weddings, to keep the children happy, became regular events.

In March 2020 Covid-19 virtually shut down Crazy Candles. The business also changed hands as Konni & Helmut were ready to retire. However, they are still helping with hosting events, making sure their knowledge and expertise is passed on!

The new owner used the downtime to develop and build new equipment, to be more user friendly and better suited for indoor events. To make access to events easier, the equipment was redesigned to be transported in a van instead of having to use trailers.

A new logo, uniforms and website as well as additional Workshops were all part of the Crazy Candles re-launch!

We also intend to expand and gradually offer our services throughout Australia.
