How Does it Work and Is It Safe?
We have several different methods of candle making such as water candles and balloon candles but the most popular is the traditional dipping and carving method. The children dip a wick into different colours of wax to build up layers of colour. After each dip in the wax the candle is dipped into cold water to cool the layer and allow more wax to be applied. This process is repeated until the candle has reached the desired thickness.
The candle can then be carved and sculptured to create shapes and characters and reveal the vivid colours. Finally, the finished product is dipped in a clear wax to seal it and make the colours shine and then it is immersed in cold water to cool and set. We have a large variety of designs and themes to help stimulate the children's creativity.
We are very proud of our 100% safety record since opening in 2000. The wax temperature is only 60 degrees and we operate under Health & Safety Regulations Level 2 which are strictly applied. We also provide Public Liability Insurance. Crazy Candles was featured on Channel 10’s “Totally Wild” program and Konni demonstrates the traditional dipping and carving method of candle making.
